What a great weekend! Last week, my wife found one of our Gear Daddies cd’s somewhere. I had not listened to it in years but I was really excited to see it – the Gear Daddies are one of my favorite bands of all time. I put their cd in the car for the drive to work and it brought back so many great memories – it was the start of an awesome day.
So when I got a minute at work that day – I dug around online to see what I could find out about the Gear Daddies. To my amazement – they were actually reuniting to play at Highland Fest on Saturday. I emailed the wife, asked her if she wanted to go (dumb question) and we made our plans.
I have to say, the show was awesome. The music was awesome. The night was awesome. They performed all of their classics and the sound was incredible.
After the show, my wife and I were lucky enough to be invited backstage to hang out with the guys for a while. Above is a cell phone pic of me and Martin Zellar (lead singer). He and the rest of the band – Randy Broughten, Nick Ciola, and Billy Dankert were great and a lot of fun to hang out with.
If you are a Gear Daddies fan – I highly recommend listening to your favorite Gear Daddies cd today – it will bring back some fun times…and if you are not familiar with the Gear Daddies – I highly recommend going out and buying all of their cd’s TODAY! They are kind of hill-billy rock with a local flair (eg. Dream Vacation in the Dells – lyrics here). You have not heard anything like it.
