Happy Monday!
If you have been following the Zillow Project on the Pine Needle Lawn - you know that I was not able to write a post yesterday. The wife had me doing some work around the house that I had been putting off for quite some time - I also had to help my daughter with a presentation (about LakePlace.com) that she will be giving to her economics class today. Needless to say, Sunday was very busy - I hope you had a great weekend and I apologize for not giving you our stats.

We are now 5 days into our $100 spend. Here are the numbers.

EZ Ad results - Day 4 & 5

Total Impressions: 269

Total Clicks: 0

EZ Ad Results

There you have it. A reader also made the following comment:

“I typed in some zip codes in the Lake Minnetonka area and never saw your ads.”

I noticed the same thing. Our EZ Ad is not showing up every time someone looks up the zip codes we purchased - instead, Zillow shows an ad for EZ Ads many times. I am not sure why this is happening. If Zillow is watching, it would be great if you could let us (and our readers) know how to make sure our ads will show up in our target zip codes.
Check back tomorrow for day 6 results!

    Hi, it’s David from Zillow,

THANKS for posting these updates. I can answer your question about your ad not showing up on every page.

When you buy EZ Ads, you specify the number of views your ad will get and the duration over which we should show your ad. From your reports, I’d guess you purchased 1,000 views over one month. That will represent some fraction of the available page views in the Zip codes you have targeted. We try to serve your ad more or less evenly over the duration you selected - so we space out the ad views according to the fraction of available impressions you’ve purchased.

    In future, if you’d like your ad to show up more often, you could either;
    a) buy more impressions,
    b) choose a shorter duration (1 wk vs 1 mnth)
    c) target fewer zip codes.

I hope that that makes sense.

Thanks for the answer Dave - we appreciate it very much.

Here is a suggestion…it would be great if you could allow the advertiser to choose if they would like their ad spread out over a certain time frame - or - choose a “machine gun” approach - where the ad is displayed on every possible pageview until the advertisers budget has been exhausted.

I actually signed up for 10,000 impressions “over 6 months” and I did not realize that my impressions would be metered. I either missed that or it was not mentioned when I signed up.

Thanks very much for clearing this up for us!
